WHAT IS AN FFL TRANSFER?
An FFL transfer is the process of transferring a firearm through a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL). If you purchase a firearm from an online retailer or an out-of-state dealer, the firearm can be shipped to a local FFL such as The Gun Lab.
Once the firearm arrives, we complete the required transfer procedures so you can take possession of your firearm after all applicable federal and state requirements have been satisfied.
HOW DOES AN FFL TRANSFER WORK?
The process is simple. Here’s what to expect when you have a firearm transferred through The Gun Lab.
1. Purchase Your Firearm
Purchase your firearm from an online retailer, out-of-state dealer, or other lawful source.
2. Have the Firearm Shipped to Us
The seller ships the firearm to The Gun Lab using the appropriate FFL-to-FFL process.
3. We Receive Your Firearm
Once the firearm arrives, we process the incoming transfer and prepare it for pickup.
4. Complete the Transfer
When you arrive, you'll complete the required ATF Form 4473 and any applicable background check or other required procedures.
5. Take Possession
Once all applicable requirements have been satisfied, you can take possession of your firearm.
Buying a Firearm Online?
Buying a firearm online doesn’t have to be complicated.
If the seller requires an FFL to receive the firearm, you can have your purchase shipped directly to The Gun Lab.
We’ll receive the firearm, process the incoming transfer, and have it ready for you to complete the required transfer process and take possession.
Before purchasing, make sure the firearm can legally be transferred to you under applicable federal and Ohio law.
What Happens When My Firearm Arrives?
Once your firearm arrives at The Gun Lab, we process the incoming transfer and prepare the firearm for pickup.
You will be notified when your firearm is ready. When you come in, you’ll complete the required paperwork and background check procedures.
Once the transfer has been legally completed, you can take your firearm home.
What Do I Need to Pick Up My Firearm?
Please bring a valid government-issued photo ID that meets the applicable requirements for completing the firearm transfer.
You will also need to complete the required ATF Form 4473 and any applicable background check procedures before taking possession of the firearm.
